The notion of women’s rights can have different meanings in different countries. We must nurture women’s voices to encourage them to speak out and advocate for their basic human rights in their communities. In the recent revolution started in September 2022 by Iranian women, the slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom" represents Iranian society’s yearning for basic rights over the last 43 years. The women and men of Iran standing shoulder to shoulder, have reclaimed their basic rights from those who took advantage of religion to control and ignore half of society: Women.
